ABOUT THE CURRICULUM

CONCENTRATION OVERVIEW

The purpose of the International Business Concentration is to provide an organizational framework for courses and complementary academic activities or experience, which focus on the development of international business management skills, and provide students with an opportunity to broaden their knowledge of business environments, culture in other countries and regions of the world.

These concentrations complement a curriculum-wide focus on the application of all management skills and concepts in a broad global context.

Its primary focus is on cross-border management and regional studies through a combination of courses in international business management, experiential learning activities accomplished by field studies which are specifically designed to supplement graduate studies in management.

It also provides an opportunity to link functionally-oriented courses with a strong emphasis on application outside the United States, with the various research and outreach activities underway in other parts of the school.

The International Business program is becoming more important as an increasing number of American business organizations engage in activities outside the United States. Many U.S. firms do more than fifty percent of their business in other countries, and the number of multi-national firms is constantly increasing.

The program is designed both to acquaint students with the environmental influences on business in other countries, and to provide practical in-depth education in one or more of the necessary functional activities.

The IBC certificate program is composed of a variety of topics that will be taught online, including Global Economy, Issues in Marketing, Global Economics for Managers, Marketing of New Ideas and Global Strategy & Implementation.

In addition to these, and on-site component in China will expose students first-hand to what they have been learning.
